The night was still a cold blanket around us as we set off in the jeep. The darting beams from our headlights pierce the forest till we arrive and start our trek. With every step we gain elevation, smell the air taste different, and squint our eyes into the horizon looking for the first glimmer of sunlight. It is not an easy climb, but we reach a crest to witness the splendour of the golden orb rising - leaking yellows, orange and pinks into the blue. I bath in the colours and draw from their energy to run all along the summit of the volcano. We walk above the clouds and call to one another, I see you, be careful, you got this!
